from Kesselus: The association formed on June 1, 1850 had the following directors: Samuel W. Simes, S.B. Morris, T.B.J. Hill (Wiley's brother), Josiah Whipple (Wileys brother in law), C.K. Hall, C.L.McGehee (brother in law), and Wylie Hill. 

From McDowall: T.B.J. Hills son's, Cap, T.A.W., an Bob were educated there, and from Eva's memoirs, so was Augustus. McDowall also mentions that Sam Houston's son's attended and he spoke at graduation ceremonies after he was Governor of Texas.

This institute provide soldiers for the Confederacy.

Kesselus's book says that A.W.  Hill was in the Bastrop Militia and we know Augustus his son also served as well as the other Hills.
